Our Brand members have immediate access to an established environmental auditing system that has been developed by the worlds’ leading centre of excellence for the leather industry in conjunction with several major brands and their tanner suppliers.

LWG expects any brands or suppliers that wish to use the LWG protocol to assess their leather supply chain to be fully engaged, paid up members of the Leather Working Group.

Our philosophy on membership is that brands and suppliers fund the group through annual subscriptions, while leather manufacturers are assessed via the LWG Environmental Audit Protocol.

Meetings

LWG hosts two annual Main Member Meetings: one in Spring, to coincide with APLF in Hong Kong, and the second in Autumn to coincide with a European leather fair.

LWG and Traceability
Traceability remains an important and relevant issue for our members and we have recently had numerous requests for information on what LWG's requirements are.  Traceability has been part of our protocol since 2008 and our vision is to have a fully traceable supply chain although we recognise that this is challenging to achieve.
