A notice of immediate closure and power disconnection was issued to Pallavaram Tanners Industrial Effluent Treatment Company on 15th May 2018, as a result of a series of failings and not meeting regulatory requirements. LWG have a number of leather manufacturer members who discharge to this CETP and these members have had an advisory note applied to their listing on the website, pending additional investigation being carried out.
LWG have written to the CETP and the member tanneries concerned and will act appropriately once more information is known with regard to timeframes for remedial works and how the tanneries intend to operate in the intervening period until the CETP is fully operational and in compliance.
