The Leather Working Group has officially aligned our protocol development process with the ISEAL Credibility Principles

The ISEAL Credibility Principles define the core values of credible and effective sustainability systems, and provide a foundation for greater impact. In aligning with these practices, we hope to provide greater transparency into our protocol development process and empower stakeholders to engage with us to enact meaningful change.

To help guide our development process, the LWG will publish all audit protocols with an introductory period before implementation, complimented by a public consultation and revision phase. The timeline for each stage is dependent on the level of change contained in the updated protocol. Major changes (such as moving from Version 7.0 to Version 8.0), will require a 6-month introductory period, with a 2-month consultation period within that timeframe.
